For the record I'm half Filipino and I've been a Scientologist for 15 years including a staff member for 5 of them before I got married. The only place I've seen this "Xenu story" is in the media NOT within anything Hubbard's written himself and for the record I've seen the so called 'secret' - but just really 'upper level materials' - when I was in the Sea Org, and it ain't there either. Sorry but that's just wiki being cheesemosa.

Additionally one of the core sayings in Scientology is "If it is True for you then it is True" and the corrollary applies as well - so it is therefore perfectly acceptible to NOT believe in any particular part of Hubbard's reasoning behind that doesn't jib with your personal reality so long as one applies the processes/methods correctly and is otherwise an ethical person in life.

I know of several Christians (and even a few Atheists) who use secularized versions of things originating in Scientology (mostly study and business techniques) that don't believe a lick of the mythos and have a great relationship with the Church of Scientology as long as they use the stuff for the greater good of mankind.

Like most humanists (religious or secular) I know personally we believe that is is better to concentrate on using everything we have - be it our individual trades, sciences, arts, individual religious techniques, individual creative ideas, etc - to make a better world - rather than wasting the time arguing over who's belief or non-belief system is right. Personally I believe that arguing over belief/non-belief frankly leads to nothing good - only evil like wars, distrust, intolerance and unneeded conflict. This I believe I get from the filipino "pakikisama" idea.

IMHO what makes Scientology hard to understand for those of Abrahimic religions (or those who grew up in such) is that because the beliefs are the most important part of their religion and they are NOT this way in Scientology - it's sort of like looking at religion from the other end. In Scientology the practises and techniques used to help people are MORE important, and are the CORE of Scientology not the mythos.

These sites:

and

Fairly well explain what IS actually important to Scientologists.

I hope this helps you better understand what Scientology actually is rather than rumours.

Also you look pretty happy to me in the pictures so you probably weren't stressed enough at the time to have it read much anyways. You could have also been what we call "keyed out" being at the bookfair and all. I mean I LOVE books and that totally would have made me all chipper too! That's a GOOD thing anyways, as if one is easy to get that chipper we feel they are in pretty good shape. Even a quick look though your neuroticism section shows that you pretty much have your shit together. Would you benefit from Scientology, SURE! but I get the feeling your going to have a pretty good life even without it, though I think you should give it a real try before dismissing it out of context.

Oooh, don't call the cosplayers! It's insulting.

If you're really into getting into armor, I have friends in Star Wars Philippines. Ironically enough, the stormtroopers in your picture are friends of mine, hahaha.
