Dictating the Internet since 1996

It’s BoraCAY, you idiots. Get it right.

Tuesday May 30, 2006

One of my biggest pet peeves is the use of the proper noun “Bora”. Every time I hear somebody utter “Bora” I need to repress the urge to wring that person’s neck with my bare hands. Okay, so I’m exaggerating a little. But the word “Bora” really, really, really irritates me. I mean,  WHY?  Is it really too much trouble to say the third syllable?  Or is “Bora” some sort of hip conyo slang that I don’t seem to be getting?

In any case, nothing gets my blood boiling more than the incessant use of the word “Bora”.  For fuck’s sake people, get it right!

It’s BORACAY

BORACAY

BORACAY

BORACAY

Not “Bora”.

Now that I’ve gotten that off my chest, I shall be going to BoraCAY with my family on June 10-12 and I CAN’T FUCKING WAIT.

Yes, I know it must sound lame to be excited to go to BoraCAY with one’s family.  With parents around, you can’t flirt, fuck, and take drugs with all the conyo party boys and girls.  It probably sounds even lamer to be excited about going to BoraCAY with one’s parents during the off-season.  In the month of June, there won’t be any conyo party boys and girls to flirt, fuck, and take drugs with.

But unlike most women people out there, I don’t use the beach as an excuse to dress down to my underwear, hook up with random potheads, and wave glowsticks around like a retarded 3-year old.  I actually go there to swim, breathe in the saltwater, watch the sunset, and generally escape from the chaos that is Metro Manila to enjoy the peaceful and tranquil environment of the seaside. I hate parties, I don’t associate myself with people who do drugs, and I have a near-fatal allergic reaction to conyos.  I swore that I would never set foot on BoraCAY as long as it remains the conyo capital of this country.  But screw that.  I haven’t been out of the city the entire summer and I’m really looking forward to going somewhere new.

So there. :)

KATIPUNAN is now recruiting!

Sunday May 21, 2006

zoom in

If you are a college student in Ateneo, UP, or Miriam, then KATIPUNAN wants you! We offer our members seminars, workshops, and trips with the leaders in journalism in the Philippines.

Contact:
Human Resources – 09209516532
Operations – 09158116488

Aside from the standard stuff that comes with the recruitment ad, I would like to invite all aspiring Katipuneros/Katipuneras to join the Entrepreneur staff.

Money talks, and KATIPUNAN’s Entrepreneur Staff talks about how it does. This section hopes to provide students with some business savvy by highlighting issues involving business and the economy. The Entrepreneur section also aims to highlight business opportunities and developments. From student enterprises to on-campus businesses, writers for the Entrepreneur section report on the movers and shakers behind the business aspects of the Ateneo community.

Basically, the Entrepreneur section is a specialized features section. Instead of graphs, charts, and complex economic issues, we are going to feature various business opportunities and young entrepreneurs in order to inspire students to start their own businesses. No, you don’t have to be a business or an economics major to be a part of the Entrepreneur staff. So long as you are a competent campus journalist who knows how to keep deadlines, you’ll do fine.

In case you’re still clueless as to why I’m pimping the Entrepreneur staff – well, it’s because I’m the Entrepreneur editor. Yep, that’s right. You’ll get to work under me. :)

Just comment on this entry if you have any other questions, or text the numbers posted above.

Be a part of the revolution. Join KATIPUNAN now! And tell all your friends :)
