Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire SUCKED SO MUCH. DON’T WATCH IT.
Posted by Lauren | Under Reviews with 63 views Saturday Nov 19, 2005The Harry Potter movie was so bad, I’m going to save everyone the trouble of watching it and tell you what happened (yes, I hate it that much).
Dumbledore: Screw academics! This year, Hogwarts is hosting a tournament so dangerous, students in the past have died competing for the Triwizard Cup.
Everyone at Hogwarts: Okay.
*some shit happens*
Harry: Hello. I am Harry Potter. The plot revolves around me and I seem to be the only character moving it forward. And yet, I’m so stupid, all the other characters have to tell me what to do in order to get the story going.
*Harry, Ron, and Hermione end up squabbling because of some stupid teenage thing or other*
*some more shit happens*
*Harry and Cedric end up at graveyard, where Voldemort rises back into power*
Wormtail: *cuts Harry’s arm* Haha! Our ingenious plan of setting up an incredibly complicated tournament in order to get a mere drop of your blood to revive the Dark Lord was a compelte success!
Cedric: *dies*
Voldemort: Prepare to die, Potter! But before you do, let me free you from that gravestone, give you back your wand, tell you about my plans to take over the wizarding community, and take you on a tour of my secret lair.
*Harry and Voldemort fight*
*Harry seems to be losing*
*But because Harry’s mommy loves him so much, she comes back from the dead to tell him what to do since he’s too stupid to figure it out himself*
*Harry ends up at Hogwarts*
Mad-Eye Moody (who is really Crouch’s son, but you’re not supposed to know because the whole movie was being very subtle about it): I had the chance to kill the famous Harry Potter! But I just ruined it because I said something I shouldn’t have said–a mistake that all careless, formula villains do.
*Harry, Ron, and Hermione are friends again as if nothing happened*
*Lauren tried to get her money back and failed*

Are you serious? I have been looking forward to it for months!!! They cant do that to us! What a dissappointement.
Well, some HP fans are more upset about the adaptation than anything. I’m more upset about the story itself. After watching that movie, I realized how weak the plot of the whole HP series is. I refuse to buy any of the books and watch any of the movies from now on.
Well, I’ve neither read any of the books nor seen the films. I just don’t like anything that’s so over-hyped. I won’t be going to see “Goblet of Fire” even though one of my (fairly distant) relatives appears in it (or so I believe).
I do think that this is the weakest film so mainly because it misses out so much of the detail in the book. It is like the basic plot of the book without the bits that make it interesting, if you get what I mean. I was a bit disappointed.
I didn’t want to watch it anyway (because of certain actors) but I did hear that it wasn’t as good. As said by Natalie, maybe they had to fit in only the important bits; they could’ve missed 3/4 of the story.
I feel your frustration!
It’s not the adaptation that pissed me off (although I was quite disappointed that they only showed one dragon). the plot in itself was weak and needlessly convoluted.
I think yer review made an impact to its success. Goblet made ONLY $181 million from its opening weekend. You GO GIRL!!!
As much as I respect your opinions, Lauren… I second that, Adrian!!!!
How much of the film’s success is down to its quality - a thrilling storyline, great cinematography, etc. - and how much is because it is over-hyped, because people are so obsessive about it, and simply because… other people go to watch it?
Let’s face it, JK Rowling could call the final book, “Harry Potter and the London Telephone Directory” and the film could just show the stars reading from said book. It would probably still be a box office hit.
i think older people watching the movies and reading the books have to realize that these books are technically written for children. Plus, the movie couldn’t really cover all the points that the book addressed because the book was SO DAMN LONG that it would take over 5 hours to put even half of it into movie form. I mean, they already barely glazed over half the details and the movie was still over 2 hours long. I thought that the director and cinematographers of this movie did much better than the first three and the actors are getting better at what they’re doing. i thought that the director could have addressed certain things rather than others, but honestly, he did a good job overall.
Haha, you’re probably right.
gel! its me carme.. =) musta? add kita sa blog ko ha! ingatz palagi!
As far as I can see everyone will rush for the tickets and watch it just for the sake of having watched it, even if you wave huge red flags with ‘NO!!! IT SUCKS!!!’ printed on them.
hi Lauren, just wanna know if you are able to buy a notebook from Twinhead. Tx
I think “HP & the Goblet of Fire” the book is good as it is (it won a Hugo Award for Best Novel) but the movie missed A LOT of important points to actually explain why things happened. It was frustrating and in the end I was like “That was it? Where is this and that?”
All I wanted in the Goblet film was that it show Moody turn Malfoy into a ferret.
Mission accomplished.
wow, it’s that bad? I haven’t seen it yet. I guess I could always wait for the DVD too. heh
Lol. Voldemort is a fetus. Krum is a block of wood. Or maybe a convict.
Man…must be that bad,eh? I’d rather read the novels. Then you can really know how good the movie is. I think I’d rather see Narnia which I heard is awesome!!!
Prisoner Of Azkaban wis the best so far…clever plot…love the ending!
like all the harry potter books, the central problem is harry gets to be the hero too easily. and it seems that he gets very very famous and still lives a normal life is ludicrous. in today’s world (which he lives in), he would be mobbed and stupid malfoy wouldn’t ever have a chance against him. the best movie of the lot was the 3rd one i think. this one was just ok.
I didn’t realize how crappy the story really was until I read the sixth book. I still like the concept, but there’s no character development whatsoever! Everything is just too obvious. I suppose it’s because it’s a children’s book, but still. There are series for young adults that an adult would find clever and thought-provoking.
Im like a big HP fan. I love it. But I have to admit. That was pretty funny.
